展览背景 Background of Exhibition

　　首届北京国际设计三年展（Beijing International Design Triennial, BIDT）由中华人民共和国文化部、中华人民共和国教育部、中国文学艺术界联合会和北京市人民政府共同主办，由清华大学、北京歌华文化发展集团和北京工业设计促进中心共同承办。

　　北京国际设计三年展采取国际通行的三年展模式，以三年为周期，邀请全球顶尖设计师和优秀设计作品参展，致力成为目前国际上最具学术价值、最具前瞻影响、最具高端地位的综合性设计大展，通过践行创新的理念，构建全球设计师展示创新成果的又一引人瞩目的平台。

　　首届北京国际设计三年展不仅是中国，而且是东方设计发展的一个重要里程碑。该展览以各国一流设计师为参展主体，以代表性的设计产品为主要展示对象，集中展示当代人类所取得的优秀设计成果，以帮助中国公众更好地理解设计的价值，体现设计改善人类社会境遇、提升生活品质、带来和谐美好新境界的深远意义。参加本次展览的设计师预计将超过500位，其中中国设计师（含港、澳、台）约占30%，国外设计师约占70%。

The First Beijing International Design Triennial is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and co-organized by Tsinghua University, Beijing Ge Hua Cultural Development Group and Beijing Industrial Design Center.

The Exhibition aims to be the comprehensive design exhibition with the greatest academic value, the best perspective influence and the most high-end position in the world, it is a new and important platform for global designers to present and publicize their innovative achievements.

The Beijing International Design Triennial takes the prevailing international“triennial” mode as the basic operation mode. The first Beijing International Design Triennial is an important milestone, not only for China, but also for oriental design development. With the cycle of three years, it collects excellent international design works and opens the dialogues with the themes on design and development of human society.

The Exhibition takes the first-class designers from different countries as participating subjects, and outstanding design products as main exhibition objects. The number of the participating designers is expected to exceed 500, with Chinese designers (including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) accounting for about 30%, and foreigner designers about 70%.

展览组织模式

　　展览采取国际通行的策展人制度，在策展委员会统一协调领导下，聘请中外策展人进行组织策划。策展人的任务包括确定展览分主题、联络设计师、确定和运输展品、确定展陈方案。

　　首届三年展将采取主题展的形式，围绕“仁：设计的善意”这个总主题，举办五个分主题展，每一个分主题展将由一名（组）境外策展人和一名内地策展人联合策划，共有五对策展人参与本次活动。

主题展模式 ： 1个总主题 5个分主题

策展人制度 ： 5组境外策展人 + 5名内地策展人

Exhibition Organizational Model

The exhibition will take the internationally prevailing curatorial system, inviting Chinese and foreign curators to organize the show under the leadership of the Organizing Committee. The duty of the curator includes deciding the topic of the sub-theme, communicating the designers, determining and transporting the exhibits and deciding the scenography.

The First Beijing International Design Triennial will take the form of exhibition focusing on one theme. Under the main theme "Ren: Good Design", there are five sub-theme exhibitions. An oversea curator will cooperate with a curator from mainland China for each subtheme exhibition. There are five groups of curators participating this event.

仁：设计的善意

　　“仁”是中国传统文化中最重要的概念之一，同时体现出“好设计”（Good Design）最完美的精神主旨。“仁”意味着对人的关爱。好的设计在使人受益的同时也关照着仁爱精神。

　　以“仁：设计的善意”为主题的首届北京国际设计三年展，集中展示当代人类所取得的优秀设计成果，以帮助中国公众更好地理解设计的价值，体现设计改善人类社会境遇、提升生活品质、带来和谐美好新境界的深远意义。

REN: GOOD DESIGN

“Ren” is one of the most important concepts in Chinese tradition which could also perfectly convey the spirit of “Good Design”. "Ren"means caring for others, caring for the people. Meanwhile, good and outstanding designs also benefit the majority of the people, wherein the goodwill of design is reflected.

The First Beijing International Design Triennial with “Ren: Good Design” as the general theme, collectively presents the excellent design achievements acquired by contemporary human beings, makes Chinese people understand the value of design better. Design concerns human life and social development. Good design will have profound meaning to change the situation of China and the whole human society and improve the quality of life.
